Attachment Disorder – Grimsby

What to expect on the training


  1. What is attachment disorder?  An overview of how a child might develop an attachment disorder, including: When things go right: adequate parenting/caregiving and securely attached babies and children.  When things go wrong: risk hotspots.  This is extremely helpful for identification purposes.
  2. How does attachment disorder present in the primary school aged child: Examples of how children express the effects of insecure attachment
  3. Differentiation and supporting scaffolding across the curriculum, including strategies to help engage the child’s interest
  4. Strategies and interventions to simplify tasks, react/respond appropriately to emotional and social situations and finding solutions to deal with difficult emotional and social situations
  5. Differentiation: Relating to the child, modelling enthusiasm, the language we use.
  6. Setting appropriately pitched emotional and social tasks and targets


Course outcomes.  Each delegate will:


  1. Learn to identify potential triggers, presentations and possible behaviours associated with attachment disorder
  2. Create a range of age and level appropriate strategies and interventions to support academic and social and emotional inclusion
  3. Communicate in an attachment disorder friendly way (including visual)
