What to expect on the training…
- An overview of how the impairments affecting those with Autism, and related conditions may necessitate sensory changes in the classroom and other indoor and outdoor environments.
- How other young people may also benefit from sensory interventions.
- Meeting the sensory needs of those with or without a range of SEN. Some simple and effective strategies designed to adapt environments and meet the needs of a range of young people with SEN, whilst continuing to also meet the needs of their peers.
- Strategies and interventions for adapting the sensory environment to meet the behavioural needs of individuals and groups.
- How to exploit the benefits of visual interventions in order to nurture effective communication.
- Using appropriate lighting.
- Using appropriate sound and recognising inappropriate sound issues throughout the environment and taking remedial action.
Each delegate will learn to:
- Understand the needs of a range of young people and their associated impairments.
- Create differentiated, sensory interventions to nurture a appropriately stimulating sensory environment.
