Create differentiated, sensory interventions to nurture appropriately stimulating sensory environments to meet the needs of individuals and groups, with or without SEN.

What to expect on the training…

  • An overview of how the impairments affecting those with Autism, and related conditions may necessitate sensory changes in the classroom and other indoor and outdoor environments.
  • How other young people may also benefit from sensory interventions.  
  • Meeting the sensory needs of those with or without a range of SEN. Some simple and effective strategies designed to adapt environments and meet the needs of a range of young people with SEN, whilst continuing to also meet the needs of their peers.
  • Strategies and interventions for adapting the sensory environment to meet the behavioural needs of individuals and groups.
  • How to exploit the benefits of visual interventions in order to nurture effective communication.
  • Using appropriate lighting.
  • Using appropriate sound and recognising inappropriate sound issues throughout the environment and taking remedial action.

Each delegate will learn to:

  • Understand the needs of a range of young people and their associated impairments.
  • Create differentiated, sensory interventions to nurture a appropriately stimulating sensory environment.
  • Adapt the sensory environment to meet the needs of individuals and groups of individuals.
  • Create effective sensory calming interventions and strategies
